Hakuryuen
白龍園
HAKURYUEN
Kyoto Kurama, Ninose no Sato, and the garden at the foot of Anyoji Mountain, where the gods of the mountains are said to have lived since ancient times.
A garden whose appearance changes throughout the four seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter), allowing you to enjoy the splendor of each season.
Flowers show their best expressions depending on the four seasons: cherry blossom season, azalea season, fresh green season, autumn foliage season, and snowy scenery, but “Kan Aoi” is a type of hollyhock that only blooms here (the meaning of hidden love in the language of flowers). It blooms with wonderful fruit that cannot be described in words.
Hakuryuen is a privately owned garden, so only a limited number of people can walk around or take photos.
A gardener takes care of the garden and manages the moss every day.
It is more beautiful than the many shrines and temples in Kyoto.
It is even more wonderful than the gardens designated as a World Cultural Heritage Site.
Inside the garden, a shrine and large torii gate are built to enshrine the mountain deities “Shirahige Okami (eternal youth and longevity)” and “Eight Dragon Kings (prosperous business)” to protect the sacred area.
Inside the garden, purified water flows from the Sojogaya deep in the mountains, forming a river that purifies and moisturizes the garden.
The garden is so beautiful that it can only be described as a secluded area during the fall foliage season. There are five Azuma houses, each with a different view.
The roof is made of cedar thatch, making it sturdy without the use of nails.
It is a house unique to Japan.
Inside the garden, there is a scenic “window” in the shape of a hollyhock, which is described as the “Kanaoi no Mado”.
For those who wish to be photographed, this is a window into happiness that will be incorporated into one shot.
four seasons
cherry blossom colors
During the cherry blossom season, the trees begin to turn green, and in the spring, when the flowers are in full bloom, various flowers, including cherry blossoms, bloom with a colorful expression.
green garden
During the season of fresh greenery, when you stand in a garden full of greenery, you can feel the gentleness of the cool breeze and the vibrancy of life.
autumn leaves season
During the fall foliage season, the rich contrast of the late autumn sun changing day by day paints the vast garden in vivid colors. A beautiful nishiki-e-like glow spreads before your eyes.
snow season
During the snowy season, you can feel the quiet and dignified air and be surrounded by winter scenery, which deepens the Japanese flavor and atmosphere and reflects a mysterious beauty. The heart-warming beauty of the ancient capital is here.
